Sodium aluminate is an important commercial inorganic chemical. It works as an effective source of aluminium hydroxide for many industrial and technical applications. Pure sodium aluminate (anhydrous) is a white crystalline solid having a formula variously given as NaAlO₂, NaAl(OH)₄ (hydrated), Na₂O·Al₂O₃, or Na₂Al₂O₄.

The product can be used in a wide range of applications, mostly in water and wastewater treatment, as well as an intermediate ingredient in various commercial and industrial applications, such as:
– Removal of phosphate and fluoride in domestic sewage and industrial wastewater treatment plants.
– In paint processing and paper, textile and pharmaceutical industries.
– In the production of synthetic zeolites and catalysts, as an additive in cement or concrete and in the manufacture of industrial detergents.
