NON - IONIC POLYELECTROLYTES
PACKAGING | In bags of 25 kg.
REGULATIONS | According to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH), Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP/GHS). Some polyelectrolytes are suitable for treatment of drinking water.
These are organic high molecular weight products with a polyacrylamide base, which are completely soluble in water. They are used as aids flocculants in processes: flocculation of colloidal suspensions, greywater and wastewater clarification, sludge dewatering, discoloration of greywater etc.
Depending on whether the electric charge of polyelectrolytes, when they are added to water, is negative, positive or neutral, the polyelectrolytes are classified as anionic, cationic and nonionic.
The polyelectrolytes act as flocculants, which eliminate or reduce the load of particles of liquid waste. Because the particles in the effluents are usually positively charged (since the main flocculants used are salts of iron or aluminum) used for this purpose are anionic polyelectrolytes. To achieve the neutralisation of the load, the polyelectrolytes must be adsorbed to the surface of the particles (flocculation jib). Provided, however, that for proper absorption of the polymers on colloidal particles, the mixing is sufficient and strong
Polymers that are anionic and non-ionic cling to a number of adsorption sites on the surface of particles, found in wastewater. When one or more particles are attached along the polymer itself a bridge is formed. The bridged particles connect with other bridged particles during the process of sintering and are thus easily removed by sedimentation.
The infusion of polyelectrolyte solutions in water or sludge is done at a point where intense turbulence is guaranteed so that mixing becomes strong. If mixing is insufficient, the polymer will “retrose” and the result will not be satisfactory.
Note: Some polyelectrolytes are suitable for drinking water treatment.
