Our company has the authorization for trade and import of sodium chlorite by the Greek National Organization for Medicines.
Sodium chlorite is a basic compound and its reaction with hydrochloric acid produce chlorine dioxide (ClO2), a strong oxidant and disinfectant. The reaction takes place “in situ”, using special equipment, as follows:
5NaClO2 + 4HCl -> 4ClO2 + 5NaCl
The use of chlorine dioxide as a disinfectant has serious advantages compared with chlorine and sodium hypochlorite. It is considered: -Stronger disinfectant than the previous two
-Has a reduced risk compared with chlorine
-The efficiency is not affected by the pH value of the disinfected water
-Does not form chloramines and other halogenated and chlorinated by-products.
The main uses of chlorine dioxide are:
– Drinking water production facilities
– Waste water treatment systems.
– Paper Industry
– Food industry processes
– Cooling water circuits steam plants.
