Antiscale agents are used to control the formation of inorganic salts (mainly calcium, magnesium, strontium and barium) in water treatment systems. These salts, derived from the decomposition of the dissolved salts of the water (especially Ca and Mg salts) as temperature rises,  precipitate in the form of  very sparingly soluble deposits. These deposits cause many problems, reducing the performance of heat exchange and therefore the efficiency of the installation. They can also cause gradual blockage of channels, increase the hydraulic resistance, causing excessive pressure and can cause corrosion under deposits.
